MAD MAD MAD
MAD MAD MAD is a newly devised play created by Humanist Project founder Michael Toomey and a richly diverse ensemble of nine actors. Through clowning, music, and movement, and against the backdrop of the 1980s America, they tell the story of Stanislav Petrov, a Soviet Soldier who in 1983 saved the world from nuclear annihilation by not responding to a nuclear launch from the United States that turned out to be a false alarm. Using this story and a few of the many other nuclear close calls throughout history, we examine the ironic fact that Mutually Assured Destruction, or MAD, is the way we as a global public ensure nuclear peace, and ask the question, "What are YOU gonna do?"
